YOUR SURREY & LANGLEY BRACES & INVISALIGN PROVIDER

Coloured Braces

Dr. Kanani will help you choose from a range of colours to customize and personalize your braces. Keep things interesting during treatment with coloured braces!

You’ve embraced the idea that you’re going to be wearing braces for a while. Time to have a little fun by adding some colour!

Braces are made up several working parts: the brackets, archway, metal bands (o-rings for back teeth) and elastics (bands made of rubber that go around each bracket).

If you've chosen translucent cosmetic braces or Invisalign® to keep your dental treatment as invisible as possible, adding colour to actually highlight your braces would probably be the last thing you'd want to do.

But! If you’re getting traditional metal braces, you won't really be able to hide them – so you might as well jazz them up instead!

What Gives Braces Their Colors?

The tiny elastic bands are what make it possible for you to colorize your braces! These elastics are changed during your orthodontic visits every 4 to 6 weeks, so you don’t have to settle for just one color through your entire treatment. You can change colors each time you visit Dr. Kanani's office!

You can even choose different colored elastics for each tooth or in an alternating pattern. The Happy Tooth provides an online color selector for braces so you can test out different colour combinations virtually before your next appointment.

Choosing The Right Colour

Here are some helpful tips for choosing your colours:

  • Gold, dark blue, turquoise, orange, green, violet or pink may look super if you have a darker skin tone
  • Lighter blue, bronze, darker purples or blues and subdued tones of red or pink might complement a lighter skin tone
  • Darker colours may make your teeth appear whiter
  • Lighter colours can make your teeth look more yellow
  • Choose colours that match or complement your eyes
  • Choose colours that complement the colour of clothing you often wear

Colours To Avoid

  • Black elastics may mimic rotting teeth or food in your teeth
  • White may make your teeth appear more yellowed and can stain more easily
  • Green or brown elastics may be mistaken for food in your teeth

And, don't forget... You can change it up with every visit!

You’re likely going to wear your braces for 18 to 24 months. Why not have some fun with them, and express yourself with a colourful smile?
